What are the main applications of energy storage devices?

The function of an accumulator is to store pressurized oil in the hydraulic system and release it again when needed. Its main functions are manifested in the following aspects.

(1) Accumulators are used as auxiliary power sources to store overpressure oil from hydraulic pumps in hydraulic systems that operate intermittently or achieve periodic action cycles. When the system needs it, it is released by the accumulator. This can reduce the rated flow rate of the hydraulic pump, thereby reducing the power consumption of the motor and the temperature rise of the hydraulic system.

(2) The pressure maintenance or emergency power supply of the system and accumulator can be used to compensate for leaks and maintain a constant pressure of the system, while the actuator remains stationary for a long time to maintain a constant pressure. For certain systems, it is required that in the event of pump or power failure, the actuator should continue to perform necessary actions and use an accumulator with appropriate capacity as an emergency power source.

(3) Absorb system pulsation and reduce hydraulic shock; The accumulator can absorb the impact of sudden changes in system pressure, such as sudden start and stop of hydraulic pumps, sudden closure or opening of hydraulic valves, sudden movement or stop of hydraulic cylinders, etc. It can absorb hydraulic pumps while the pressure pulsation caused by flow pulsation is equivalent to the oil circuit. Smooth filter (sensitive inertial accumulator connected in parallel at the pump outlet). The gas and oil in the accumulator are separated by a bag.

The airbag is made of oil resistant rubber and fixed on the upper part of the high-pressure housing. The bag is filled with inert gas. The lifting valve A at the lower end of the shell is composed of a spring and a bacterial valve. Pressurized oil is introduced from the bag to prevent the bag from expanding and squeezing the oil outlet when all the oil is discharged. This structure ensures reliable gas-liquid sealing and overcomes the disadvantages of small bag inertia and slow response of piston accumulator. Therefore, it has a wide range of applications, but its disadvantage is poor manufacturability.
